"Numbers Have Lives" is an animated visualization project I spearheaded to humanize the impact of Covid-19 in the USA. At the time the website stopped updating, the lives lost had reached a staggering 600,000. This nearly incomprehensible number was contextualized through relatable comparisons: enough people to fill 12,500 school buses, pack eight Lambeau Fields, or, if stacked, extend 2.5x beyond the International Space Station.
The website underwent regular updates, reflecting the rising toll until we paused at the somber milestone of 600,000. Alongside these visualizations, we consistently linked to CDC guidelines, urging viewers to follow them and wear masks.
